Blowout using the Tension Method

To celebrate my birthday last week, I decided to do a blow out on my hair using the tension method. The tension method is basically elongating damp hair with your hands and using a blow dryer to keep it stretched. This method does not give sleek results especially to your ends, but it does give the voluminous look expected from a blowout. I haven’t used heat on my hair in two years and a few months so I was really excited to see how this would turn out.

To prep my hair, I used every product in my Phyto Paris Winter Collection Set. I wanted the best results with complete heat protection so I did not leave anything to chance.

The shampoo was thick, moisturising and quick to lather and my hair felt clean and hydrated. (According to the product description, this shampoo provides heat protection).

The hair smoothing mask had a thick and gooey consistency and I was very heavy handed when I applied it. My hair absorbed it all and had a soft, silky, feeling after rinsing.

The next and final step was the botanical straightening balm.  This balm is super lightweight. It almost seemed like water but the smell, cooling effect and feel suggests otherwise. According to the pack, it contains plant mucilage, ferula, horseradish, sage and chamomile extracts. The product is also heat activated and provides heat protection. I applied a small dab to my palm and rubbed it into each twist. Then I blow dried on my lowest heat setting and spent 1-2mintues on each section. I loved my results, but my ends began to revert the next day.
