7 Natural Hair Tips for Growth
- To best cleanse natural hair use water that is warm.
Warm water gently lifts the hair cuticles to help you remove any product build-up.
Using hot water to wash natural hair can be very damaging as it lifts the hair cuticles fast and dries out the scalp. - Always rinse out all the conditioner from natural hair
This is because leftover conditioner leaves a film-like coating on the scalp which can look like dandruff and dull the shine of your hair.
- When you apply shampoo, distribute it concentrating on the scalp.
The first application of shampoo is to lift the oils, product build-up, and sweat.
The length of the hair will receive the shampoo as it is being rinsed. You can find a tutorial here. - Regular conditioners are not the same as deep conditioners.
This is because instant conditioners contain ingredients that are too large to penetrate into the hair shaft no matter how much heat is used.
- Hot oil treatments and Pre shampoo treatments are not the same.
The main difference is, hot oil treatments are done after shampooing.
Also, hot oil treatments are exclusively made of oils.
However, pre-shampoo treatments can be warmed up conditioners, oils, or a combination of the two.
You may choose any that fits best for your healthy hair journey. - When planning to wear a defined hairstyle e.g a twist out, braid out, or Flexi rod set
Style your natural hair while it is wet. (Not dripping wet.)
It gives a good curl defined hairstyle.
In contrast, styling your natural hair while it is damp, allows it to stretch and have more volume. - Before using ponytail holders or hair ties, oil them first.
This will reduce any friction it can have on your hair strands, thereby reducing breakage.
Promote Hair Growth
It is worth noting that the above natural hair tips that promote hair growth are only successful when used as part of a healthy hair care routine.
