Hair Growth Challenge
Towards the ending of last year, I began to contemplate what my natural hair would look like if it was longer and that’s where the idea for this challenge was born.
I simply thought if I am going to grow my 4c natural hair longer, why not share my routine and let you all in SO WE CAN GROW OUR NATURAL HAIR TOGETHER?
So today, I want to share my natural hair growth plan for my 4c natural hair in 2021.
Natural Hair Growth Challenge Routine
This routine is suitable for every natural hair type. With discipline and consistency, you will be able to see a difference in the health of your natural hair.
This plan is broken 3 parts.
In the first part, I’ll be sharing the hair routine I’ll be sticking to for the next 6 months.
Next, I’ll take you through what products and tools I will be using and third, I’ll be sharing additional resources that would be of great help to you.
Be sure to stick to the end of this article so you don’t miss anything. Let’s get our hair growing! I’m so excited!
Hair Growth Challenge for Natural Hair Rules
So first of all, my routine for the next 6 months will be as follows;
- Wash natural hair every 2 weeks.
- Beginning with a pre-shampoo treatment for 10-15 minutes before detangling.
- Next, shampoo and deep condition every washday.
- Following with an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse to balance your natural hair pH level.
- For styling, I will be using the LCO method. (Leave-in conditioner, Cream, and Oil). This method helps my normal to high porosity hair moisturized for longer.
You can use either the LOC or LC method. Whichever works for your natural hair best.
Keep your hair in protective styles in between wash days and protective styles would be twists, braids, or flat twists.
The key aim is to keep it simple.
Less breakage and more length retention even if your hair grows slowly.
Also, I will majorly be finger detangling. If you can’t finger detangle, use a detangling brush gently.

If I seal my hair with cold water when rinsing out my conditioner will that stop the products that I use for LOC from penetrating my hair shaft?
Hi Janette! No, it doesn’t. Rather it prevents the products you use for LOC from drying out faster.
Let me know if you need more help.
Thank you so much for your quick response.
You’re welcome!
How often should we be deep conditioning and do you have a specific deep conditioning concoction that you use? Also how do you feel about Aztec clay, chebe powder and rice water?
Hi Claudiana, Aztec Clay, Cheney powder and rice water serve different purposes in natural hair care and a great additions as well depending on your hair type. You can find more tips in my book to help you with deep conditioning https://bit.ly/3h6hNl4
