The following are the reviews from the luxury products I used in my Home Spa Hair Date. You do not have to use exactly the same products I did. I only use these products once in a while because of their price tag obviously and because I know some of them do a really good job on my hair.
Ojon Hair Mask – £19.00- £34.00
Product claim- Improvement in the condition of dry, damaged hair after just 1 treatment. This clinically proven cult classic is fortified with pure Ojon™ oil, nature’s powerful golden elixir, a rare powerful natural ingredient that’s rich in essential lipids similar to those found in healthy hair. After just one treatment, this rich, velvety balm dramatically helps restore vibrant health, strength and shine to even the most damaged hair. Hair is soft, silky and manageable. A must-have for lifeless, dull, brittle, frizzy, flyaway or unmanageable hair.
My Observation
I have been using this product since my transitioning days and so far I know that this product does make my hair super soft, gives lots of shine, and strength to my hair. My only problem with is that since it is a bit thick and oily I have to make sure to also apply shampoo to the length of my hair, otherwise, my strands will still be dense with products. Will I buy this again? Yes, It is already one of my staple products.
Dead Sea Spa Magik Shampoo – £8.75 or less
Product claim – An effective rich and creamy formulation to invigorate hair and scalp. Soothes irritated scalps and revitalises damaged hair. A miracle solution for dry, flaky scalps, whilst being gentle enough to use daily.
My Observation
This is also another product I have been using since my first year with natural hair. It has a creamy texture with a sort of milky colour to it, it doesn’t dry out my hair and cleanses my scalp really well. However, if you use a pre-poo treatment as thick as Ojon before applying this shampoo you may have to be heavy-handed with it. The thickness of the Ojon mask did not allow for the shampoo to lather as it normally would so I had to apply a lot of it. Will I buy this product again? Definitely!
Ojon Hydrating Conditioner 250ml- £20.50
Product claim- Daily deep nourishing treatment. This rich, rapid daily moisture-proofing system with the hair-repairing power of nature’s golden elixir plus Blue Agave, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Babassu Oil instantly quenches parched strands and surrounds them in an invisible aura of protection. As roughed up cuticles smooth down and lie flat, hair springs to life again. Dull hair becomes brilliantly shiny, incredibly soft and supple. Never weighs hair down. Never feels greasy at the roots. Smoothes static, tames flyaways, too.
My Observation
This luscious nutty smelling conditioner has been a staple for me since I first bought it in a travel size. It is yellow in colour, creamy, thick and completely hydrates my hair. However, I have a sensitive skin so there is something in this product that always stings my face whenever this conditioner comes in contact with it. It may be something I am allergic to. I’m not certain yet. Will I buy this conditioner again? I don’t think so.
L’Occitane Repairing Mask – £22.00
Product claim- Transform your hair from dry and damaged to strong and shiny with the Aromachologie Repairing Mask. Our new formula contains an anti-breakage complex, made with five essential oils (ylang-ylang, sweet orange, lavender, geranium, angelica) and plant-derived amino acids, which help repair the hair fibre. It also captures the richness of shea butter and sweet almond oil in which help to soften and protect.
My Observation
This L’Occitane hair mask has a special place in my heart. My hair absolutely loves it. From the first time I tried a sample size I have never looked back. It has become my go to mask whenever my hair seems to be crying out for help. The blend of essential oils gives it a sweet scent and my hair always looks and feels revived after use. When applied, it absorbs all the water left in my hair after shampooing and makes my hair super soft and well moisturised. Will I buy this product again? Yes! It’s already a staple product.
Ojon Hydrating Styling Cream – $28.00
Ojon™ Hydrating Styling Cream is a leave-in cream that adds definition, moisture and brilliant shine with unique light-holding ingredients. It reduces breakage caused by thermal styling, UV damage and combing, and helps combat humidity to eliminate frizz. The pH balanced formula helps to prolong hair color, and leaves hair soft, smooth, nourished and protected. Instantly hydrates Dramatically smoothes Combats frizz Adds definition Brilliant shine.
My Observation
This product is has some tiny brown granules that dissolve when you rub your palms together to generate heat. It is lightweight and absorbs quickly into my hair and also tames frizz. However, it leaves my hair feeling dry and dehydrated after use so I would not purchase this product again.
L’occitane Repairing Serum – £11.00
I think this product has been discontinued as I could not find it on the L’Occitane website. For what its worth, I do like this serum. It claims to have UV filters to help protect my hair from sun damage which is very essential for my hair here in Nigeria. It also helps moisturise my hair while giving it a lovely scent from the essential oil blend within it.
Since I may not find this product again, I will be using pea size amounts when needed.
Anita Grant Monoi de Tahiti Tiare 100ml – £12.49
I reviewed this product a few months ago. The details can be found here.
I hope you find my observations informative. Remember you do not have to use the luxury products listed here. Any product of your choice is fine. Peace & Blessings, CJN

Hello dear. I’ve noticed that most or even all of the above mentioned are store bought. What about using natural ingredients like Shea Butter, coconut oil, avocado, lime, olive oil and the like. I ask because I don’t think I would be able to maintain a regimen consisting of some. Of ur staple products as it is too pricey and readily not available because I am based in the eastern part of Nigeria and online market is a joke. I’ve come across some other blogs who swear by using some those natural ingredients I mentioned but now I am confused.
Pls help a fully transitioned hair neophyte. Thanks
Hi dearie,
Natural ingredients are the best but they work better together. You can definitely maintain a regimen with only natural ingredients. This post was written about 2 years ago and all the products I used were 90% natural. I love DIY’s but most times, handmade or organically formulated products that use most or all the natural ingredients you mentioned above is better because they penetrate the hair shaft quicker than raw ingredients.
