I know most of you were wondering why I went silent after The Secret Natural Hair Brunch by The Kinky Apothecary.
Well, I was waiting for the pictures.
I had none because I didn’t take my camera along.
I’m not just saying that because I was one of the speakers, no, you should have been there. I mean, what’s better than an event with good company, cocktails, good food and fantastic speakers (if I do say so myself). 😉
For a proper summary, I arrived at the event a few minutes late but thankfully I wasn’t the only one so I didn’t feel so guilty. I greeted the ladies that had already arrived and then I was kindly offered a cocktail by one of the Cointreau staff. After a few minutes, we were all sat at the table, 40 of us to be precise, and everyone chatted like we had known each other for years. It was wonderful! As we were sharing our terrible relaxer experiences, the first course of Smoked ham, cheese & Caramelised onion Brioche Toasties topped with a Fried Egg arrived. This was so filling!
I have always said, if you want to eat bread, why not go all the way and spoil yourself with brioche bread. It is the best anyway.
Before the second course of Jerk Chicken, Mango & Rocket Salad, Nibi Lawson, the Founder of The Kinky Apothecary gave a speech about natural hair health and a little about the science of black hair.
After the spicy green peppercorn prawns and squid (my favourite) and the sweet potato coconut balls, it was my turn to speak.
I talked about my hair journey , my regimen and answered some questions. There were mixed reactions to how long I take to wash my hair but over all, it went well.
Before I forget, because this was a laid back event, we were also shopping at Grey’s pop-up store and buying hair products from the Kinky Apothecary stand in between everything.
While we were having our Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Glaze, Mena Imasekha, founder of Omnutri gave us a very educational speech about our health and tips to achieving glowing skin.
Finally, Chef Toritse Oparison – aka Artist & Scientist – spoke about the inspiration behind her company and the 3 courses she made while thanking us and her team for a job well done.
We all left with goody bags and new hair information and satisfied bellies.
Overall, it was a brilliant event and yes, you should have been there.
Please, tag the beauties in the pictures below!

Too bad I missed it, I had no choice.
I’d been expecting these photos!
Hopefully you’re back in Lagos soon

It was fun! I want to be back soon as well and I’m thinking of going for the meet-up in Abuja but I’m still unsure.
