I first used Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14 in 1, (aka HSMW from here on), during my last wash day . I came across a picture about it on Instagram once, and the name caught my eye. So while I was on holiday, I bought it for £5.99 which was a rip off because I later found it for N1000 at my local grocery store. le sigh
Anyway, this product claims to be a ‘miracle worker’ which is a huge claim in my opinion. I mean, if it can increase hair growth maybe…
The 14 claims are as follows:
- No Drip Activator
- Moisturises Hair
- Defines Curls
- Softens hair
- Adds Shine
- Soothes Dry Scalp
- Reduces Breakage and Strengthens
- For Healthy Weaves and Braids ?? (I don’t understand how this helps)
- Repairs Chemically Damaged Hair
- Non-Greasy
- Detangles
- Increases Body
- Thermal Protection
- Helps Relieve Burning Sensation
Out of all of them, this was what I noticed.
- It made detangling super easy and my hair felt soft and slightly defined while wet.
- When my hair had completely air dried, it felt dry. So I re-moisturised it, using only HSMW and set my hair in mini twists in front and large twists at the back.
- I wore my twists for three days before taking it down. My hair was very soft, moisturised and some of my individual curls were defined, but there was no sign that I just took down twists. I had ZERO twist-out definition. My hair had shrunk up to wash and go size, fast!
- There was a little shine, but there was definitely no increase in volume.
- My scalp also kept itching me after the first few days. It may not be because of the product, but it was something I noticed.
- I can neither say if it provided any thermal protection nor if it helped relieve any burning sensation because I did not use any heat and my scalp was not hurting in any manner.
- I also really dislike the smell of this product. It smells like a bitter pharmaceutical drug and my mum dislikes it too.
- On the plus side, HSMW is certainly non-greasy and reduced breakage while detangling due to its amazing slip. Plus, I really like unique no drip spray nozzle on this product. It made it easy to get the contents out without any hassle.
For a first impression, it’s not exactly what I would call a ‘miracle worker’ and it doesn’t live up to all its 14 claims, but it did make my hair super soft, slightly defined and easy to detangle. I’ll continue to use this product and post any updates if I notice any change.

I use it and I must say I love it. I got it for #1020, for the price and size it’s really nice.

That’s good to know. 🙂 The size is definitely generous for the price no doubt.
I tried it but my hair was still frizzy when it started drying. Not much definition and the curls were definitely not poppin by the time it completely dried. I have 3c,4a curls.
Thank you for your review!
