Igbocurls Frequently Asked Questions
I get a lot of recurring questions from you all on my various social media handles, email and even in person.
As much as I want to give my full dedicated attention and help every single one of you, it is difficult to do so.
Therefore, I hope these frequently asked questions will help to answer some of your questions.
How long have you been natural?
Since Summer of 2011. You can read my hair story here. If you don’t like reading, then you can watch my hair story here.
Are you Mixed?
No, both my parents are Nigerian.
Where are you from?
Nigeria!
Did you Big Chop or Transition?
I transitioned for seven months. By then my natural hair could be put in the tiniest bun you have ever seen. I was super conscious of the length of my natural hair, but I loved that I had finally let go of the relaxed ends.
What is your hair type?
My hair type is 4c with a little bit of 4b at the centre and nape of my head.
What is your hair porosity?
My hair is low porosity, but it is thick and dense. In other words, my hair absorbs enough water and tends to be high porosity towards the tips. That is because the tips are the oldest part and are more worn than the length of my hair.

I’m Igbocurls on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. On Youtube, it is IgboCurls Chinwe Juliet.

How long is your natural hair?
My natural hair is currently 30inches long. At my hip but I may consider growing it longer or cutting it shorter. It all depends on what I decide at the time.
What is your natural hair routine?
My consistent natural hair routine can be found here. Although, I have several natural hair regimens that still maintain the health of my hair depending on my environment, weather and location.
What are some of your favourite natural hair products?
I have tried so many products in my natural hair journey.
I was a product junkie during my early years before I found what products worked for me and also realised that, it’s not the products that make your hair grow but how you treat your hair consistently over time.
