Hi lovelies!
This title is making my head swell. Haha! 😆 Osheeey editors desk. Lol!
But for real, I’ve missed you all. It has been a while since I wrote a personal message to you here so getting around to typing this feels sooo good. It is precisely 1:33 am and I have to go to bed asap but wait…
Can you believe it is JUNE???
We are about to be halfway through 2021 and it just seems like yesterday that we said Happy New Year.
Time flies by so fast you would think it would be something we would be used to but could we ever be?
Sigh… thank God for HIS mercies.
To be honest, it has truly been a rollercoaster living in Nigeria this year. Everything on the news is almost all bad and it can really take a toll on one’s mental health.
Work has also been overwhelming but I am thankful and grateful to God for growth especially in times such as this. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Lord.
It’s really been tough coping mentally and if this is an area you struggle with here are a few tips that have helped me stay positive despite the disaster going on all around us.
- I read my Bible first thing when I WAKE UP. I avoid picking up my phone first except if I have to turn off the alarm. Reading God’s word is food to my soul, strengthens my mind, and renews my spirit. It is important to dwell in the presence of our Creator through prayer, meditation, praise, and silence. I am learning every day but one thing I can tell you is, you cannot have peace any other way.
- Next, I pay attention to what I listen to. Some people watch the news in the morning but personally I find that all the negativity on the news ruins my mood for the day so I choose to either listen to Praise songs or a Podcast. Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer are my current favorites.
- Take a walk. I have been doing this for almost a month now and it has really helped me think clearly. You can take a walk early in the mornings and after sunset in the evenings. Just make sure you take a route that is safe or walk with someone. If you don’t feel your neighborhood is safe, skip this. You don’t want to add more anxiety.
- Read books! A little bit of motivation here and there is great but you need to know that the mind is a battlefield. Whatever goes on in our minds determines what we do and eventually who we become so it is imperative that we enrich our minds.
If you got this far, I hope these tips help you take control of your mental health. Think on purpose for God has given us the power to do so.
And always remember, we may not have the power to change everything that is happening all around us but we can work on being the better person every society needs.
P.s – I will do my best to be consistent with my posts but bear with me. I’ve got such great content lined up for you! Don’t forget you can buy my books here. Thank you always for your support!
Don’t forget to live well, live great and PRAY ALWAYS. God loves YOU & God bless YOU.
