Marie Claire (The Swank)

I found this hairstyle inspiration from the work hair section of Marie Claire Magazine, so I thought to myself, ‘hmm…this is cute, why not give it a try’ and I got this!   **Please note that these pictures were taken at different times in one day, hence the different lighting. I hope you can see the hairstyle clearly though.

When I was compiling these pictures I realised I didn’t have a proper front view of the hairstyle so you’re stuck with me cheesing away.

I also added a pretty hair-band.

 Comparing both results.

How To:

  1. Part your hair in four sections. One big chunk in the middle, two small ones on each side and a little behind. (Note: Sections do not have to be perfect. I used my fingers to part my hair and it came out alright).
  2. Use your left hand to slick the middle chunk of hair down,
  3. then use your right hand to stretch the small section of your hair across the middle and secure with a Bobby pin.
  4. Repeat the same process with the hair on the left side.
  5. When your done securing both parts across the middle with Bobby pins, roll and tuck in the ends of your hair to your scalp and secure with more Bobby pins.
  6. Thats it.

Don’t worry if all this sounds confusing, I’ll try to make a video for it or find someone on YouTube with something similar to give you a visual explanation. Till then, the materials and products used were:

  • Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier
  • Anita Grant Lemon Sponge
  • Jamaican Black Castor Oil
  • Eco-Styler Gel (to lay those edges down!)
  • Bristle brush
  • Toothbrush (exclusively for my hair)
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair accessories (optional)

I personally love this hairstyle and I hope you all love it as much as I do too.

Peace & Blessings,

Chinwe Juliet
