My Pregnancy Journey
Hi lovelies! Or should I say Happy New Year?
I have literally been off social media for about 7 months plus. No blog posts, no Instagram, no Twitter, nothing. To be honest, if someone told me I could go so long without accessing any form of social media I would have laughed. I definitely surprised myself.
It was due to a couple of factors like my title above. Pregnancy, Labour and having a new baby (where are all my first time mums)! I cannot stress how much no one can predict what will happen during ones pregnancy especially with first time mums like me.
As much as I did not have any morning sickness or even fall ill for one day, I did have other issues.
My pregnancy only began to show at late 7 months. Up until then only family knew I was pregnant. I literally had a flat stomach (no jokes). Both my mums (mother and mother in-law) were honestly ecstatic about it. They had only heard of people being pregnant and not showing but they had never come across it their whole life.
To be honest, I was sleeping for about 15 hours almost everyday. I was always tired but whenever I could keep my eyes open, I was very active. I worked out at least 5 times a week walking, strength training and swimming so I think that really helped with controlling my weight gain. (Pregnant women are supposed to gain about 12kg-15kg, anymore will be harder to lose according to my OB-Gyn.)
However, I did get ‘baby brain’. What that means by my definition is that my thought process got slower. My productivity decreased tremendously. What I could usually accomplish within 30 minutes began to take me 4 hours and in some cases like video editing, I could be working on one frame for 4 days! It was impossible for me to keep up with YouTube and on top of that, my body began to retain a lot of water causing my feet, face and hands to swell. Oh boy!
But I won’t have exchanged it for anything in the world. I was truly happy to be experiencing a whole new human being, being formed inside me. Pregnancy is definitely a miracle.
Labour
Labour on the other hand was something else. The whole 9 months of preparation will still leave you in awe when your baby decides to come.
My labour started about 48hours before my son was born. I went to the hospital the day before his arrival to check with my Ob-Gyn to confirm if I was really in labour and lo and behold, I was already 2 centimetres dilated. 8 hours later, I was only 3 centimetres. (insert crying emoji here) As you might be able to imagine, my contractions had become steadily painful that I could not do any walking exercises. (Exercising apparently makes labour faster…Well, not in my case! My child took his sweet time. Haha! )
When he finally decided to make an appearance, it began to rain heavily with strong winds that flung my maternity door open 3 times! It was quite the drama but I thank God for it all. My son arrived soon after midnight on October 1st. It was GLORIOUS, exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. Thank you JESUS, THANK YOU LORD!

Postpartum on the other hand has been its own set of new experiences, I’ll discuss them more in my next post and YouTube video so be sure to keep up with me because I have loads to share and I hope someway somehow you can all learn from my experience or at least be made more aware through my experiences.
Thank you all for taking your time to read this personal post. I really don’t get personal here so this is certainly new. Anyway, where are all my first time mums! Raise your hands and tell me of your experience in the comment section below.
