I bought these two shampoo bars at the same time in October last year. I fell for both of them because of their smell and because they were the only two shampoo bars made by LUSH that did not have ingredients that would stick to my curls. They are also made handmade, sold fresh, packaged environmentally friendly also vegan.
Jumping Juniper comes as a single bar in a round shape and it cost me about £5.75 while Trichomania is moulded as a huge solid shampoo so you just need to tell the attendant to cut out how much you want to buy. The size pictured above cost me £7.
Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar lathers very well in contact with water. It completely clarifies my scalp and smells citrusy. Its circular size also fits into my palm without difficulty and it lasts long for about 8 weeks or more if you keep it in a dry place after use. I usually keep it covered in one of my soap tins. The only problem I found with it after consistent use is that it drys out my scalp. As mentioned above, this shampoo clarifies not just cleanses, so its better for use when you need to get rid of excess product build up.

Trichomania Solid Shampoo cleanses and moisturises at the same time. My hair does not feel squeaky clean but the product buildup is usually gone. I think this is due to the creamed coconut in the ingredients. Also, the smell is not overpowering and it lathers well.
My problem with this solid shampoo is that the shape did not allow easy movements when I was trying to work up some lather. My hair is curly and I prefer to wash it while it is clumped in twists, that way, I prevent my strands from wrapping around themselves while washing. As a result of this, solid shampoos with sharp edges that can get caught in the roots of the twists are a no, no. Nevertheless, it is only a shape problem which can easily be fixed.

In conclusion, I like both shampoos and would recommend them to kinky, curly, textured haired ladies like me.

Lovely. I love how the products are packaged. I should give these shampoo bars a try someday. poo bars over liquid poos! Anyday!
Me too! I prefer bars to liquid shampoos. The ease of use, time you save and the longevity is always worth it.
I love their Jasmine Fluff-Ease! My curls just melt when I put it into my hair. Have you used any of LUSH’s conditioners?
I’ve used American Cream and Retread. The former stung my skin on contact so I never used it after my first try. The latter was too watery to be used as a deep conditioner so I just let it go as well. But my all time favorite product from LUSH is Rub Rub Rub. I always buy a new one when I run out.
